Sentiments and Emotions

Have you ever notice how some of us are afraid of expressing our sentiments and emotions. Most of us have been conditioned to be against sentimentality. We have been conditioned, inculcated and taught to repress and suppress our sentiments and emotions. We were told that sentimentality does not pay – be assertive, be practical, be hard – don’t be soft, don’t be vulnerable – otherwise you will be exploited. At least pretend that you are hard and dangerous, so you create fear and intimidation around you.

The third chakra is the center of our sentiments and emotions. The Hindus refers to the third chakra as the ‘manipura’ – “the diamond chakra” – signifying its special place in our lives. Life is valuable because of this chakra. It is where we experience the sentiments, emotions, laughter, crying, tears and smiles. These are the glory and gems of life.

Only human beings are capable of having these precious diamonds. Animals cannot cry or laugh or display any of these sentiments. These sentiments are of a special dimension which belongs to human beings only. The beauty and poetry of tears, laughter and smile is available only to human beings. And when we suppress this part of our being – we are suppressing our very humanity.

When we repress the third center we lose our authenticity. We become a soldier – not a human being but a soldier – an army man or woman – a false person.
These sentiments and emotions are essential for our spiritual growth and evolution. Emotions have to be release and relaxed. When you feel like laughing – laugh. When you feel like crying - cry. Stop the nonsense about repression and suppression. We have to express our emotions because only through our sentiments, emotions and our sensitivity do we come to that vibration thought which authentic communication is possible.

I am sure you have seen and/or experienced it; – when someone can speak for hours and nothing is said but a tear role down their cheek and everything is said. A tear can say much more than words. A little laughter – a real authentic laughter and you need not say anything more. The laugh or the tear has said it all. When you see your beloved your face blushes, beams and flashes with joy no words are needed. You allow your vulnerability to be exposed and enter into a deep intimacy with yourself and the other.

Be authentic – laugh more, cry more, smile more, touch more, hug more and love more. Let today be a day that you become conscious of expressing your sentiments and emotions and enjoy that sweet ride of you manipura.

With love and light
Courtney
